Text is free. Credits buy the audio.
Three ways to buy credits, and one thing you never have to buy.
Every account, free or paid, writes 50 text stories a month within fair use, up to 10 a day.
No card needed, for as long as you have an account. Credits are only for the narrated audio, the illustrated storybooks and one-tap delivery to a linked Yoto account. New accounts start with 3 credits, so you can hear one narrated before you decide anything.
A narrated story costs 1 or 2 credits, depending on length. Replay is always free, and up to 3 siblings co-star in one story at no extra cost.

What that looks like in a week
One narrated story every bedtime Sunday is about 4 to 8 credits a month, so £7 a month covers it with credits left over to roll on. Bought as pay as you go, £10 covers 2 to 5 months at the same rate.
Early members keep £7 for as long as the subscription runs, and we will give at least 30 days' notice here before the rate changes for new members. Every story you have made stays in your library whatever you choose. How credits work →
Before you pay
What happens to credits I do not use?
On the monthly plan they roll over and never expire. Bought once, they never expire either. Nothing you have paid for is taken back.
What if I cancel?
The subscription can be cancelled any month, and there is nothing to cancel on pay as you go. Every story you have made stays in your library either way.
How much is a story, really?
One or two credits for the narration, depending on length. Writing the story is free and so is replaying it, so the only thing you spend a credit on is hearing it read aloud the first time. How credits work →
What do you need to know about my child?
