Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Wayfable is a service that creates personalised, AI-generated stories for children. These terms govern your use of the Wayfable website and service. By creating an account or using Wayfable, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create a Wayfable account.
  • Children use the service only through a parent or guardian's account. You are responsible for all activity on your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials secure.

3. The Service

  • Wayfable generates personalised stories for children using AI technology.
  • Story content is based on the preferences, interests, and child profiles you provide.
  • We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the service at any time.

4. Content Ownership

  • You own the stories generated for your family through Wayfable.
  • Wayfable retains a limited licence to store, process, and deliver your content as part of providing the service.
  • Wayfable does not claim ownership of your generated content.
  • AI-generated content is provided "as is" without guarantees of originality. Similar prompts may produce similar stories for different users.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to generate violent, sexual, exploitative, or otherwise harmful content.
  • Use the service via automated scripts, bots, or scrapers.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service.
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.

6. Yoto Integration

  • Wayfable offers an optional integration with Yoto, a third-party audio player service.
  • Your use of Yoto is subject to Yoto's own terms of service and privacy policy.
  • Wayfable is not responsible for Yoto's service availability, performance, or changes to their platform.

7. Subscriptions & Billing

  • Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at info@wayfablestories.com for refund requests.

8. Credits, story packs and gift codes

  • Credits pay for audio narration and illustrated storybooks. Credits you have bought are added to your account and do not expire.
  • The story starter pack is a single payment. It is not a subscription, nothing is charged again, and there is no term to end.
  • When you buy the pack, the credits are added to your account immediately and the story starters become yours permanently. Keeping the starters does not depend on your credit balance: once the pack is bought they stay on your account, including after every credit has been spent.
  • Three separate things travel with a gift code, and they are not one thing. The code can expire. The credits never expire. The starters are yours to keep.
  • A gift code expires 12 months after we issue it. The expiry date is shown when the gift is bought and again in the gift email. After that date the code can no longer be redeemed.
  • Once a gift code has been redeemed, the credits it delivered are ordinary credits on the recipient's account and do not expire, and the story starters it included are permanent. The expiry applies to the code, and only to the code.

9. Cancellation and refunds

Buying digital content from us online is a distance contract, and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 normally give you 14 days to change your mind.

  • When you buy the story starter pack you are asked to tick a box confirming that you want your credits and your story starters straight away, and that you understand you lose that 14-day right once they arrive. We supply both the moment the payment completes, so from that point the statutory right to cancel no longer applies. The box is never ticked for you and the purchase cannot be completed without it.
  • Spending a credit is use. A credit is used when you spend it on audio narration or an illustrated storybook.
  • Viewing a story starter is not use. The starters are yours from the moment you buy and they are permanent, so reading, opening or picking one is not something we will ever count against a refund.
  • If the pack is not what you expected and you have not spent any credits, write to us and we will sort it out.
  • None of the above affects your statutory rights if the digital content is faulty or is not as described.
  • Cancelling a monthly subscription is a different thing and is covered in section 7.

10. Fair Use

  • Story text generation is free for all users, subject to a fair use limit of 50 free text stories per month and 10 per day.
  • Stories with audio narration or illustrated storybooks are not subject to this limit.
  • We reserve the right to adjust fair use limits to maintain service quality.

11. Limitation of Liability

  • The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.
  • Wayfable's total liability is limited to the fees you have paid in the 12 months prior to the claim.
  • As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for reviewing any content before sharing it with your children.
  • Wayfable is not liable for any AI-generated content that may be inaccurate, inappropriate, or unsuitable.

12. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time from Settings.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.
  • On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms

  • We may update these terms from time to time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes via email or an in-app notification.
  • Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
